Who is Gretchen?
Hello! My name is Cheryl - I'm just kidding. My name is Gretchen Long, and I reside and create in the hills of East Tennessee. I grew up here, and absolutely love it!
I have a wonderful mom who always encouraged me in my creative adventures when I was little - even when I accidentally sprayed very permanent model paint all down the side of her white car (oops!) She gave me an easel when I was a toddler, and I never looked back. I had a big imagination as a child and didn't really grow out of it.
In fact, as a college student I studied Art: Painting and Drawing (and Mathematics, but that is a completely different story.) Unfortunately I was still a little accident prone then, as my mom's couch received a permanent and very large black graphite smudge on one of the cushions (sorry again, Mom!)
Since that time, I have worked as an after school educational program coordinator, a high school teacher, and a financial aid counselor at the college I attended. Then, while pregnant with my first child, I finished my Masters of Education. (Seriously. I finished my last class on a Friday, and he was born the following Monday!) That degree allowed me to then teach as an adjunct professor - also at my Alma Mater.
I have a very loving and supportive husband, and we have two small children (whom I ADORE!) Now, I get to teach my children to use their imagination too! My two little stinkers - along with my 18 nieces, nephews, and cousins (so far) - are the inspiration for my designs. I also love working with the children in our church - who are a hoot!
Imagination is never is short supply here, and I am excited to share some of it with you! If you would like to work together to bring a little imagination to the world, drop me a line. I'd be glad to talk with you to see what we can accomplish together. (Don't worry, Mom. I'll be working at my own home this time!)
